Small block Chevy tearing it up

Oct. 20, 2005: Matt
Kemmerling's supercharged small block Chevy got its time on the dyno.
The (2) holley 4777 carbs, 650cfm double pumpers, returned from BDS
where they were calibrated for Jim's Car Shop's application. We have
finished dyno time and the results are: 613 horsepower @ 6900 rpm and
525 ft/lbs of torque @ 4900 rpm. The motor is in the truck and already
tearing up the streets. The truck also got and new Turbo Action torque
converter to handle its new horsepower and torque. Jim's Car Shop would
like to thank Matt and his wife for the patience and excitement during
this project. See more on Matt's motor below.
Customer amped about his supercharged Chevy

Fond du Lac's Matt
Kemmerling is waiting for his ride on the dyno since Jim's Car Shop
revamped his 355 cubic inch supercharged small block Chevy in early
September. Matt is looking forward to experiencing a great driving truck
along with having the horsepower that a supercharged motor should bring
him. The engine has new 8.5:1 comp Diamond pistons, new Manly valves,
new BDS solid camshaft, new 650 cfm carburetors, and many other
necessities to ensure that this supercharged motor treats him well. By
the way, Matt loves the smell of the VP RED racing fuel coming out the
tail pipes of his truck, especially when his wife is driving. Dyno
results coming soon

Race to Cub Scouting: It's fun at every turn!

Jim's Car Shop took part in a city wide registration day to get boys
signed up for Cub Scouting. The event was held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday
Sept. 18, 2005, and included displays of motor cycles, mini trucks,
stock, street and drag race cars. There was a pine wood derby track set
up so the boys could test their competitive racing skills. Representing
Jim's Car Shop were: Gary Wood (1972 Pinto), Scott Klapperich (Chevy
Nova), Pat Urdahl (1932 Altered Roadster), Jeff Wick (2000 Dodge
Avenger). The children were allowed to sit in the cars and experience
what the drivers get to see and feel on the road and at the race track.
There were door prizes handed out to new registers for the day,
including hot wheels cars, footballs and Coleman battery lanterns. There
is talk after this event about putting on a boy scout sponsored car

Mopars burn up the track

(Click on image to view video
footage)
The Mopar and AMC festival at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove went
on July 24, 2005, even though it was very ugly (temperatures near 100
degrees) outside. Jim's Car Shop customers John Grinwald, with his 1962
Dodge Dart, went against Rich Berlisk and his 1963 Plymouth Belvedere
for a five-run match race. Jeff caught video footage of one of the
races with his digital camera. Check it out by clicking on the images
above. See specs on Grinwald and Berlisk's vehicles at the
Customer Cars
page.
Although we have no digital evidence to share, Jeff and the Jim's Car
Shop crew took the Matchmaker Pro Stock to the Mopar event for the car's
first race of the season. The track's slick conditions and the sticky
air made for a tough trip, and Jeff shut down before the finish line.

Grinwald car show offers bit of nostalgia
The second annual car show at the Grinwald Ford Mercury dealership in
Watertown, Wis., put on a good display of nostalgia Saturday July 23,
2005. More than 50 cars were on display and a good, steady crowd enjoyed
door prizes, food, beverages and comraderie. Jeff left the Matchmaker
Pro Stock at home ahead of a hot, steamy Sunday of racing at Union
Grove, Wis., but attended the event with Jim's Car Shop customer Gary
Wood who displayed his 1972 Pinto and Pat Urdahl's 1932 Altered
Roadster. Several other Jim's Car Shop customer vehicles were included
in the display.
